BALI - IJEN 1N/ 2D

A fascinating overland tour to one of the most beautiful natural beauties in East Java to witness its magnificent view of turquoise sulphur lake on the crater and its unspoiled green lush tropical forest.

Day 01

Leave from your hotel in Bali  (Sanur, Kuta, Nusa Dua, Ubud) and continue an approximately 4-hour trip to Gilimanuk port for an hour ferry crossing to Ketapang harbour. Along the way enjoy a nice rice farm views and beautiful views of south coast beaches. An English speaking driver will be your friend and assistant during your trip. Feel free to ask the driver for a stop if you catch worth seeing views on the way. Lunch will be served on a local restaurant along the way. Cross Bali-Java strait  for about 1 and a half hours. Upon arrival at the port of Ketapang we proceed to a hotel based on your choice for staying the night and the room availability : a hotel in Banyuwangi (Mirah hotel, Ketapang Indah, Ijen Resto) or in Bondowoso (Catimor or Arabica home stay). Have dinner and take a rest before an early  morning wake up call for Ijen Explore (at 04.00).

Day 02

A trip via Licin (Banyuwangi)

Around 04 am, after wake up call we get on a 4 wheel drive jeep which takes us to Ijen. A take away breakfast has been prepared by the hotel staff. It takes about 1 and a half till 2 hours to reach the starting point of Ijen (Paltuding). We will pass through Licin village where you will see clove and coffee plantation, then  the dense tropical forest of Ijen National Park. Prepare yourself to experience a very adventurous jeep trip that explore steep roads all the way leading up to Paltuding. Upon arrival and after a short briefing a well informed guide will accompany your climbing up to the crater. Along the way you will encounter men carrying loads of sulphur weighing up to 80 kg and take a hard way up and down for about 7 kilometers. What a heart touching encounter. This is one of the hardest work you you will have ever seen in the world.  After some stops at the resting area  you will reach the 2883 meter peak with stunning views. You will feel at awe discovering such a wonder. After exploring the crater, watching the scenic panorama of the crater and taking some impressive photographs we  descend back to the starting point. End of the Ijen explore and continue a return trip to Bali.

A trip via Sempol (Bondowoso)

Enjoy one of world’s most spectacular views  at Ijen and stay at a country side jungle cottage located in the middle of coffee and clove plantation with beautiful panoramic view. Wake up call at 04 am, then enjoy a glass of coffee to warm up your body. Pack your bag or luggage at the car  baggage. Afterwards, leave the hotel to Ijen. It takes about 45 minutes to reach Paltuding.  Upon arrival, have a short briefing by the guide before start the trekking to the top. It will take around 1.5 hours to reach the top. You can have rest on the slope while enjoying the natural beauty of the mountain tropical forest and the surrounding scenery. You will also encounters sulphur carriers who have to carry unbelievebly heavy loads of sulphur which they take from the crater. Go on your trek to the top to experience standing on one of the most amazing places on this planet. Explore the top while documenting some interesting view with your camera. After exploring the crater, descend on the same route down to the car parking.  It takes a shorter trip down. After arrival, continue the trip to another destination (back to Bali).
