A TOUR MEMORY WITH NATHAN TOUR & TRAVEL ON “BALI-IJEN-KALIBARU-BROMO TOUR.”
From October 26, 2012 till October 29, 2012
I handled a package tour with a Frech couple named Olivier and Maryse. Our
main program was an east Java eco tour visiting Ijen crater, Kalibaru, then
Bromo. We started from a villa in South Bali. The price of the tour was IDR 3.150.000,- per person.,Here
our itinerary goes.
Day 01. Left a hotel in Bali,
leading to west Bali for a car ferry crossing to Ketapang Banyuwangi. Upon arrival, we took a
rest at Ketapang Indah resort for one night. We left at 11 am, had lunch at a
local restaurant in West Bali, and had dinner at a local restaurant in
Ketapang, which served hot local delicacy. What a rare experience!!
Day 02. We got up very early at
around 04 am, took take-away breakfast box, got on a 4WD vehicle which took us
to Ijen. It took around one and a half hours to reach Paltuding, Ijen’s
starting point. Half way enrote to Ijen there was a road project which forced
us to walk about one kilometer. A guide
named Sofyan, a 22 year old boy, accompanied these couple on this trek. They
spent around five hours going up the
summit, exploring on the top, and descending back to Paltuding. We left
Paltuding, moving back to hotel for changing clothes and contined the trip.
Lunch was at a local restaurant. From Ketapang hotel we left for Kalibaru, a
quiet area at south Banyuwangi which offers interesting tourist objects such as
coffee plantation, rice field, water fall and genuine rural life. All can be
accomplished in a packaged cycling tour. We arrived at Kalibaru in the
afternoon, had a rest in the hotel with atmosphere reminiscing dutch era in old
time.
Day 03. We did a cycling tour
package handled by the hotel. A guide, named Ari, guided them to visit some
interesting objects in kalibaru. Among the objects visited were coffee plantation, coffee factory, rice field and a
waterfall. The tour lasted about 3 hours. One very interesting experience was
the encounter with local people where they were warmly welcome. Before leaving
them they were given a very delicious local food called jenang sirat, a sweet
cake made from rice flour mixed with brown palm sugar and coconut by the
villagers. Early evening we arrived at Bromo view, Bromo, for check in.
Day
04. We had a wake-up call at 4.45.Then enjoyed a hot morning coffee prepared by
the hotel’s restaurant. At 4.00 we left for Penanjakan on a 4wd jeep. Arrived
Penanjakan about 5.30 to enjoy one of the fabulous sun rice views with our cameras at hand. After the sunrise
moment, we went on our trip to Bromo crater, crossing the great sand sea on
this reliable 4wd vehicle. On the way we could stop to make pictures. Upon
arrival at the foot of the volcano, we walked up instead of using the horse
service. It took 1 and a half hours to
reach the summit, explore it, and go down the the parking. We finnaly endded
the tour with excitment and memorable experience.. At 9 am we arrived in the
hotel for breakfast, afterwards left the hotel to have a journey back to Bali.
End of the trip and said good by at a hotel in Pemuteran, North Bali.

BALI – BROMO TOUR
Wake up call at 3.45. Prepare yourself then have morning coffee provided by

before you go on foot or on horse to reach the top. Upon arriving, you will
meet hundred of people already prepared with their cameras or videos waiting for
the most awaiting moment, i.e a spectacular view of Bromo sunrise. While

a small stall. Here you may channel your photography lust to create the best
photographs at this hidden paradise. After you finish the observation, walk back
down to the vehicle to continue to Bromo crater. Now after you drive across a
huge sand sea, you finally arrive at Bromo. To reach the crater you must walk
or take a horse, then walk some steps up to the top. After adequately exploring

Mount Agung
The volcano is rising ten thousand
feet (3.142 m) from the sea level. Its hight dominates the island’s easterly
views. This magestic mountain is by Balinese considered sacred. When viewed from
Sanur or from Kuta at sunset it is
deeply etched against the sky and looming over the alluring landscape.
The Balinese have long highly
regarded their mountains, and mount Aging is considered the holiest of all.
They visit Agung with a variety of intentions, from conquering its great hight,
paying tribute to the power of a still
active volcano to visiting the ancient and most holy temple of Besakih which is
located three thousand feet up on the south western part. Whatever intentions
are on your head, you will discover that the power of this holy mountain draws
you into its majestic and mistery.
Mount Agung is one of many volcanoes
in Indonesia which last erupted in 1963. Its eruption caused great loss of life
and extensive destruction. Besides forcing people to seek other ways of living,
strangely they found that the eruption provided them blessing in the way of
construction materials that contributed to the building of houses, hotels,
roads and other infrastructures as well as fertile volcanic ashes for
agriculture.
Today, this mountain has become one
of Bali’s most important tourist destinations. Parts of the slope are lush and
fertile lands with rice paddies emerald, driving routes with picturesque
panoramas, or exotic tropical rainforest with a variety of tropical plants,
fruits and spices.
There are two different ways to do a visit to the mountain. One is to
visit the temple either as a pilgrimage or as a tourist. The other one is to go
trekking to the mountain
Things to see:
The mountain. This Bali’s highest and most revered mountain is accessable by two famous ascending routes. One is via the temple of Pasar Agung, and the other one is via Pura Besakih. You can reach the summit via Pasar Agung in three hours. Normally the departure time from Kuta or Sanur is at 12.00 midnight. It takes longer time to reach the summit via Besakih. The ultimate climb starts at midnight to make you reach the summit in time for the most amazing sunrise. Torches and strong comfortable shoes are mandatory, while the need for a light jacket and a scarf is necessary.
Caution:
Don’t weigh yourself down too much
Be sure to maintain hydration as the
height of the climb can cause altitude sickness for some climber
The temple: Pura Besakih is an 8th century temple, built by Rsi Markandya. The temple was built at a sacred village now known as Besakih village. Perched nearly 1000 metres from the sea level, the temple complex contains a central temple along with its twenty-one other temples that all together make up the largest temple complex in Bali. The architectural complexity of the ttemple provides stimulating and thought-provoking inspirations on the slope of the mountain. Now, in addition to be Bali’s most important temple, Besakih is also the Balinese mother temple where every district in Bali has its own shrine at Besakih.
